January ROUND-UP
In January we welcomed two new staff members and an intern to our Dads Rock team!
Andy has joined us as our new Family worker in Glasgow working with our young dads, running playgroups and workshops. He has a daughter and a love for coffee. Rachel will be working in Edinburgh as a Family Worker looking after our national Peer Support service as well as helping with playgroups and workshops. She’s previously worked in a primary school and nursery and likes to build Lego in her free time. We also are joined by Meta who is doing a marketing placement with us as part of her degree at Edinburgh Napier University and will be with us until mid June. We are happy to have them in our team and are looking forward to all the awesome work they will do. ❤️
We held a few workshops in January, highlights include our Hair Workshop for Dads and Kids in Edinburgh as well as our First Aid Workshop for Dads and Mums in Edinburgh which was facilitated by ‘First Stop Safety Training’. These classes were very engaging and we will continue to hold similar workshops in the future.
Storm Éowyn was definitely a noteworthy event in January, as we were all keeping safe at home a few sections of the fence at the Gorgie Memorial Hall blew down. Luckily the fence was quickly fixed and we are now able to return to normal procedure at out playgroups and events.
We also welcomed Graham, the local McDonalds franchisee for Gorgie, Princes Street, Chesser and Galashiels, who kindly arranged a generous grant of £5000 that we received from the McDonalds in the Community Fund.
Below are some snaps we took in January :)
