National Play Day 2021
#NationalPlayDay is celebrated every year but this year is extremely important after the last year of restrictions and we want kids to enjoy their summer more than ever before! The event recognises the importance of playing and this year will celebrate with the theme #SummerOfPlay on Wednesday 4th August.
• Playing is essential for children’s mental health and wellbeing.
• Playing helps children cope with stress and anxiety and fosters resilience, enabling children to better deal with challenges.
• Playing gives children the opportunity to have fun, laugh, take time out, relax, and build friendships.
• Playing outside allows children to appreciate nature, the environment, and feel part of their community.
• Playing is fundamental to children’s happiness, and happy children lead to happier communities.
Dads Rock has free outdoor sessions every Saturday for Dads and their children to get involved with #SummerOfPlay. Dads can also join us with their kids every Sunday at Playgroup. You can find out more about our play sessions by visiting www.dadsrock.org.uk/playgroups.
To celebrate #NationalPlayDay we have also put together an activity pack for you and your kids to do together at home. The activity pack includes some colouring in, scavenger hunts and even a wordsearch. All you need to do is download, print and have some fun!
We would love to see some images of you and your kids getting involved in #NationalPlayDay. Make sure to tag #DadsRock on social media alongside your activity packs! Our #NationalPlayDay packs are available free of charge, but if you are able to make a donation, no matter how small, it would be gratefully received.
