What’s On for Dads in July?
We’ve officially entered the second half of the year, and the holiday season is in full swing! Here at Dads Rock, we’re keeping up the same energy and enthusiasm in all our events as we did in the first half of the year although our workshops are taking a little break until August. There are still plenty of exciting family events on our calendar, so be sure to check out what we have in store!

GROUPS
Dads Playgroup, Edinburgh - Join us in Edinburgh every Saturday and Sunday at 10am at Gorgie Mem. These are the perfect place to meet other Dads and connect with your wee one through play, song and stories, run by our Family Workers Greg and Maddy. The playgroups are open to all Dads/male carers and children under 5.
Dads Playgroup, Glasgow - Join us in Glasgow every Saturday at 10am at Easterhouse Sports Centre. These are the perfect place to meet other Dads and connect with your wee one through play, song and stories, ran by our Family Worker, Amy. This playgroup is open to all Dads/male carers and children under 5.
Three Towns Dads and Baby Group, North Ayrshire - Our Dads and Baby Group takes place every Wednesday at 18:30 at Ardeer Neighbourhood Centre Creche. This group is open to all Dads and babies under 1, and is the perfect place to connect with your baby, meet other Dads and get some friendly advice from our Dads Worker, Ryan.
Dads and Baby Group, Edinburgh - Our Dads and Baby Group is taking a little break in July but will be back every Tuesday from 23rd at 18:30 at Gorgie Mem. This group is open to all Dads and babies under 1, and is the perfect place to connect with your baby, meet other Dads and get some friendly advice from our Family Worker, Greg.
TRIPS
For our trip this month we’re going to have an outdoor special on Saturday 27th July! Come and join us in Edinburgh and Glasgow where we’ll be outdoors with a fire bowl, a few crafty activities and other forest activities. It’s just in our normal playgroup space so turn up if you want to join in.
JUNE ROUNDUP
In June, we celebrated Father’s Day in Glasgow, North Ayrshire and Edinburgh and around 160 of you joined us! Huge thanks to everyone who came along! In Glasgow we invited mums along to our playgroup, in North Ayrshire we went on a trip to Arran and in Edinburgh our annual Family Takeover took place in Gorgie. Seeing the sight of families having a good time is a gentle reminder of the goals and mission of Dads Rock. Lots of photos can be found here: FathersDay
Thank you to all our wonderful donors for supporting our Father’s Day appeal - we raised over £500
We recently hosted a fantastic event for health and social care professionals with our friends from Father’s Network Scotland and Circle. We had great discussions about how we can better support Dads and what steps we can take to keep ‘The Promise’ for them. It was an inspiring and productive gathering! (The Promise is the Scottish Government’s pledge for care experienced children and young people to grow up feeling loved, safe and respected).
It was the end of an era as we held our spectacular final performance for Dads Rock Academy on 25 June 2024. Led by our own Conal, every performer played their hearts out and left their mark on the stage!! More information about that here: DRA
