We can’t believe it’s June already! The sun is shining (??), the school year is coming to a close, and you might be wondering…how do I fill up all this time? As we embrace the summer months, Dads Rock has plenty on for all of the family, from workshops, to playgroups, trips and more. Fathers day takeover 2024
Our Fathers Day Takeover for 2024 is back! Join us on Sunday 16th June from 10am at Saughton Park to celebrate the wonderful Dads in our lives. This event is free and open to all the family. We’ll be playing games, singing songs and taking part in activities throughout the day! We would love you to join us with a picnic and celebrate Dads Rock and all the amazing Dads in our lives. Dads Playgroup, Edinburgh - Join us in Edinburgh every Saturday and Sunday at 10am at Gorgie Mem. These are the perfect place to meet other Dads and connect with your wee one through play, song and stories, run by our Family Workers Greg and Maddy. The playgroups are open to all Dads/male carers and children under 5.

These are the perfect place to meet other Dads and connect with your wee one through play, song and stories, ran by our Family Worker, Amy. This playgroup is open to all Dads/male carers and children under 5.
Three Towns Dads and Baby Group, North Ayrshire - Our Dads and Baby Group takes place every Wednesday at 18:30 at Ardeer Neighbourhood Centre Creche. This group is open to all Dads and babies under 1, and is the perfect place to connect with your baby, meet other Dads and get some friendly advice from our Dads Worker, Ryan.

workshops
Hairstyling workshop for Dads and Children - our ever-popular hairstyling workshop is on in Edinburgh on Saturday 1st June at 10am and Glasgow on 22nd June. Our team is trained by the fantastic Paterson SA and we’ll teach you the basics of brushing and taking care of your little one’s hair, as well as how to put up ponytails and plaits. We’ll also be teaching popular styles such as fishtails braids and space buns! All you’ll need to bring is your child, a hairbrush and some hair accessories.
First Aid Workshop, Edinburgh - Our popular First Aid class is on Monday 10th June at 7pm. This class is taught by First Stop Safety Training with a focus on baby and small children First Aid. We’ll be covering lots of important topics such as burns, cuts, bruises, choking, CPR and more. This workshop is open to all parents and carers.
Sleep Workshop, Online - Our sleep workshop will be taking place online on Monday 17th June from 7pm. If you’re struggling to get your little one to sleep, want to understand more about sleep behaviour, or simply need some advice, you can listen to our expert team and ask questions in a supportive environment.
Dads Antenatal - Our popular antenatal workshop will take place online on Tuesday 18th June, in Edinburgh on Monday 24th June, in Glasgow on Wednesday 26th June from 7pm. From nappies to bathing, sleeping, feeding and more, our antenatal classes cover everything you need to know as a Dad-to-be! Places go fast so make sure you sign up via our calendar soon!

May Roundup
Our May calendar has been super busy with workshops and events. We launched our Dads and Baby group for Edinburgh Dads at the end of March, and these have taken place every Tuesday throughout April with fantastic success! We’ve loved meeting so many new dads (and their super cute babies!)
We also held one of our biggest trips to Edinburgh Zoo! We had a fantastic turnout as Dads and their children explored the zoo, learned lots about the various animals, and got lots of steps in! Big thanks to Edinburgh Zoo for their kindly discounted tickets, we love being able to give our families experiences like this.

#TeamDadsRock also took part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival! We had Ryan take part in his first ever half marathon, a whole team of Dads including CEO Thomas taking part in the marathon as a relay team, and Hugh who ran the 10K. Thank you to our fantastic team who ran despite the rain, and for raising a grand total of £2175.31 for Dads Rock! This money will help us continue our workshops, provide free playgroups every weekend and plenty more, improving outcomes for children across Scotland.
The team from Hays Recruitment visited us this month for some corporate volunteering. They got together to help clean up our outdoor area and paint the climbing frames, as well as leafleting around the Gorgie area. We really appreciate our corporate volunteers taking time out of their busy jobs to help a charity close to their heart, so it meant a lot that they chose us! This month we will be saying goodbye to our interns, Theo and Shannon. On placement from Edinburgh Napier University they’ve been helping us with marketing, social media and finance and have done some great work over the past 6 months. In June we’ll be welcoming Jared, who is joining us for 7 weeks all the way from Hampton University in America!
