Big thanks to the Scottish Government
Fantastic news, we heard yesterday that The Scottish Government have awarded us £50,000.
This funding will help secure our playgroups for the next 12 months, as well as our Antenatal classes and Young Dads work. £15,000 of the above figure will be used to help with evaluating our services and looking at longer term sustainability of Dads Rock.
This funding has only been secured due to your help and support, thank you for everything you have done for us.
We’re not out of the woods yet though! This is great progress, but there is more work needed to ensure we are more robust and secure longer term.
Please keep supporting us, and sharing our news with your families and friends.
We provide a crucial support network for Dads and children in Edinburgh. We want to continue to inspire Dads to be more active in their children’s upbringing, and know this means their children will have better chances in later life.
With your help over the coming weeks and months we know together we can #savedadsrock
Here's what the Scottish Government had to say on the matter...
Parenting support charity Dads Rock has been awarded £50,000 to secure its future, Deputy First Minister John Swinney has announced.
The Edinburgh-based organisation has had to scale back services following a number of unsuccessful funding applications.
Now, Dads Rock will receive £35,000 from the Scottish Government, which will enable the reinstatement of all playgroups, antenatal classes and work with young fathers.
In addition, the organisation will receive a further £15,000 to evaluate the benefits of its work, which will help it apply for funding in future.
Mr Swinney said:
“I hugely value the important support Dads Rock provides to parents, particularly fathers, and I was very concerned to hear it was in jeopardy because of a funding shortfall.
“I am pleased that this £50,000 will enable services to resume, as well as helping to secure the long-term future of the organisation.”
