November ROUNDUP
In November our usual groups in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stevenston brought families together for fun and community and in spite of the weather we went on some trips to Kelvingrove and the National Museum. We also ran our antenatal, hair and sleep workshops this month.
We celebrated a year working as part of the North Ayrshire Social Care. Partnership, providing support to Dads and you can read more about that here: Empowering Dads, Strengthening Families
We attended a housing crisis event where we had the opportunity to discuss the challenges faced by young fathers when their relationships break down. Many of these dads find themselves sofa surfing, leaving them without a stable or safe space to spend time with their children. Unfortunately, because they are classified as single men, they are often given low priority in the housing system, exacerbating their difficulties and limiting their ability to maintain a strong bond with their kids.
We got involved with International Mens Day, talking about positive masculinity and parental role models.
We heard all about the issues Scottish dads are facing at through our friends at Father’s Network Scotland as they revealed their latest survey. You can read the full report here: Dads’ Survey 2024: Fatherhood in the Balance Report
