August Round Up!

What a busy month!

Dads Rock had a great time at the Festivals in Edinburgh, including a family trip to a Fringe show and meeting the Gruffalo at the Edinburgh International Book Festival!

We also had a full calendar of our usual Dads Groups and online and face-to-face workshops (in both Edinburgh and Glasgow) and we welcomed our new cohort of students to our Dads Rock Academy this week.

Dads Rock August Activities

Festival Fun
Dads Rock families, volunteers and staff enjoyed attending some Fringe shows this August thanks to the fantastic Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society's Fringe Days Out project. A highlight was our family trip to see The Little Iceberg Musical, a beautiful show with a heartwarming story of finding a place of belonging.

We had a brilliant morning at the Edinburgh International Book Festival where we hosted an "Are you sitting comfortably" story session and met The Gruffalo at a "Meet the Characters" event!

And that wasn't all for our Festival fun! We were delighted to welcome the wonderful Think Circus to our Edinburgh Dads in the Wood group on 27th August. Everyone had lots of fun learning some hula hoop skills! Thanks again to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society for making this happen.

School of Rock
Our Dads Rock Academy returned last night for the new term and we would like to welcome all of our new and returning students! There's still time to sign up for our family friendly music lessons, particularly for anyone interested in learning vocals and bass. Registration is open until the October half term. You can find out more and register here: DRA

Cooking up a storm
Three of our Young Dads spent the morning brushing up on their cooking skills today at one of Fresh Start's cooking classes in their brilliant new kitchen space. They made some lentil soup and ham and chive soda bread. Yum! Thanks to Fresh Start for opening up their cooking classes to our Young Dads.

Thank yous!
We would like to say thank you again to our brilliant marketing interns, Megan and Julia, who finished their placements with us in July and August. They both did lots of fantastic work helping us to promote our activities. You may have spotted the brilliant video that Megan made to promote our sleep workshops on our social media: Sleep

And a massive THANK YOU to everyone who donated to our 10th Birthday Appeal. You raised a fantastic £525 to help Dads access the support that they need. You Rock!

If you missed our 10th Birthday Appeal but would like to make a donation to Dads Rock, you can still make a donation through our Just Giving page.
