Playgroup Funding Update

Over 150 families enjoyed our playgroups in 2018. We believe our playgroups are needed and vital, it’s why we started Dads Rock. We need your help to ensure they can continue in 2019.

We need to take action now to improve the sustainability of the playgroups.

In 2018 you helped raise an amazing £5300 by packing bags, running for Dads Rock, coming to our Ceilidh etc. This year we’d like your help to do more and aim to raise £7000 by our families and supporters. This will just about cover the cost of one group, it costs £7236 to run a playgroup each year (this includes rent, salary, insurance, snack, toys/equipment, marketing, etc.)

If enough families pledge their help then hopefully we can keep more than one group running. It would cost £21,000 to run 3 groups for 12 months.

We’re looking at ways of reaching more families and increasing the numbers who come to the groups, and would welcome your thoughts on this, and offers of help.

Please take time to look at the list of fundraising suggestions we have listed and confirm to us by the 20th Jan what you can pledge to do. (We have a trustee meeting on the 21st Jan to decide on our next steps)

We are open to all ideas and suggestions.

1. Companies

Can you introduce us to someone at your company or another organisation who we could meet with, to discuss becoming their Charity of the Year?

2. Make 2019 the year you sign up to

Glentress Trail Races 10k 23rd Feb

Edinburgh Marathon Festival 25th and 26th May (James and Thomas are running, races are from 5k up, including a 1k for kids)

Tough Mudder 15th and 16th June

Pedal for Scotland 8th September

Kiltwalk 15th September (you only need to walk 5 miles!)

Scottish Half Marathon and 10K 22nd September

Men’s 10k 3rd November

Kelpies Supernova 8th-10th November

3. New Year Resolutions

Get sponsored to give up alcohol/chocolate/caffeine, or something else and set up a Just Giving page for Dads Rock. Our Just Giving page can be accessed from our website www.dadsrock.org.uk

4. Bag packing

Can you help us arrange bag packing in a shop near you? Or support one that we arrange. Bag packing is also great way to get the Dads Rock message out there, and a lot of people don’t want their bags packed, but still donate.

5. Play it Forward

Play It Forward - Dads and kids Day. We’re developing this event to run it at a large Edinburgh employer, would your employer like us to come run one for them? It will also be a fundraiser where we will provide a fun play session that the attendees will pay for. An element of the ticket fee will go towards running our playgroups. Ask us for more info.

6. In lieu fundraising

Is it your Birthday - why not ask for donations to Dads Rock instead of gifts? You can do this on Facebook, or via our Justgiving page

7. Do something…

Bake sales, back waxing to head shaves - you could fundraise for Dads Rock.

8. DONATE

120 families paying £10 per month would raise £14400 over 12 months. This would be enough to fund two playgroups.

Set up a monthly donation via our Just Giving page (remember to select Gift Aid).

Contact your employer to see if you can join their ‘Give as you earn’ scheme. Thank you to those who already do this.
